Mercedes AMG Hints at Return of V8 Engines for C63 and E63 Models
Mercedes-AMG may bring back V8 engines for its iconic C63 and E63 performance models following executive hints and strong market demand.

Geisen asked performance enthusiasts to stay tuned during a recent media roundtable. He stated that the manufacturer must first ensure it possesses a very sophisticated V8 Engine.
His comments point directly to the new flat-plane crank V8 Engine that debuted in the updated S-Class. The successful launch of this powertrain opens doors for wider adoption across the performance line.
Current AMG Lineup and Badge Changes
The current C63 badge is expected to go dormant soon as its plug-in hybrid four-cylinder faces European regulatory challenges. Meanwhile, Mercedes has not built an E63 AMG since the previous generation finished production in 2022.
Long-standing rumors suggest new V8 variants will eventually replace both models. However, executives stopped short of confirming exact release dates for these specific badged vehicles.
Intermediate Models and Future Plans
Drivers looking for a faster C-Class can expect an upcoming inline-six variant that was confirmed earlier this year. Previous naming conventions suggest this model will carry the C53 AMG moniker, leaving space above it for a top-tier V8.
Brand leadership has already confirmed a V8 variant for the CLE coupe. This guarantees that at least one core model will keep the high-cylinder option alive.
