Changshu Plant Transitions To Production
The production milestone follows ongoing restructuring efforts at Chery Jaguar Land Rover's Changshu operations. The plant previously manufactured traditional internal combustion engine vehicles for the local market before production ended following declining sales.
Market data indicates that legacy Land Rover retail deliveries experienced a brief increase in June 2026. Analysts attribute this short-term shift to inventory clearance and price reductions rather than sustainable demand growth.
Company executives expect the new model to establish an initial sales base. Monthly targets range between 5,000 and 8,000 units, while higher figures remain stretch objectives.
Vehicle Specifications And Technology
Regulatory filings reveal that the new SUV measures 5,118 mm in length with a 3,040 mm wheelbase. The extended-range vehicle pairs a 60.33 kWh CATL battery with a 1.5-litre turbocharged range extender to deliver a pure-electric driving range of 221 km.
Advanced technology features include Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8397 cockpit processor. The vehicle also incorporates Huawei's Qiankun driver-assistance system supported by an 896-line LiDAR sensor.
Global Expansion And Market Strategy
The brand outlines an extensive international footprint over the next five years. Plans involve establishing a commercial presence in more than 90 countries through a network exceeding 1,100 retail locations.
Commercial targets split the 300,000-unit goal evenly between domestic and overseas markets. The upcoming pre-sales event will provide the first direct market feedback for the company's new product strategy.
