Off-grid adventures are transformed by the vehicle's electric powertrain, which doubles as a massive powerbank capable of supplying up to 3.6kW of external electricity. This vehicle-to-load functionality allows campers to power household appliances like coffee machines, kettles, and air-fryers directly from the car when camping in remote locations.

Furthermore, an innovative California Mode enables occupants to run the climate control system, interior lighting, and USB ports continuously for up to 48 hours using energy from the high-voltage battery.
Powertrain Performance and European Market Launch
Powertrain options for the new campervan mirror the broader ID. Buzz range, pairing a single rear-mounted electric motor with either a 79kWh or an 86kWh battery pack. While official range figures and precise specifications remain forthcoming, industry expectations point toward a driving range between 250 and 275 miles on a single charge.
Charging capabilities benefit from rapid DC fast-charging technology, with peak rates expected to hit either 175kW or 200kW depending on the chosen battery capacity. This fast-charging architecture ensures that long road trips remain convenient, significantly minimizing downtime at public charging stations across Europe.
Pricing for the German market starts at just over 60,000 euros, though official UK pricing and final market specifications are slated for release closer to the vehicle's scheduled debut. Customer deliveries across select European markets are officially planned to commence at the beginning of 2027.
Expanded electric campervan offerings from Volkswagen are already in the pipeline, with additional California models expected to join the growing zero-emissions lineup starting in 2028.
