Acciona Mobility is pushing urban transportation into a new era as the Spanish electric vehicle manufacturer expands its presence in the competitive microcar segment. Produced in Barcelona, the Silence S04 battery electric quadricycle offers European city commuters a practical alternative to traditional urban transit with flexible power options and a compact footprint.
The Spanish EV maker designed the Silence S04 as a direct response to competing European microcars like the Citroen Ami and Microlino. Featuring a two-door hatchback design, aggressive LED headlights, and a two-tone exterior, the vehicle delivers surprising utility by incorporating a 310-liter trunk despite its modest dimensions of just 2.3 meters in length.

SubscribeTo lower the barrier of entry for urban drivers, Acciona Mobility established an accessible pricing scheme starting at 7,500 euros for models purchased without a battery. Owners can opt for a monthly subscription of 20 euros, allowing them to access dedicated battery exchange stations to quickly swap depleted power units for fully charged modules without waiting at traditional charging posts.
Acciona Mobility offers the Silence S04 in two performance configurations tailored to different urban driving requirements. The entry-level L6e variant features an 8 horsepower motor reaching a top speed of 45 km/h, while the more robust L7e version delivers 19 horsepower and a top speed of 85 km/h, bridging the gap between city quadricycles and full-sized passenger cars.
Versatile Power Systems Target Urban Charging Challenges
The Silence S04 utilizes a modular power system featuring portable 5.6 kWh trolley-style batteries that allow drivers to wheel energy modules directly inside their homes or offices for charging. Equipped with an integrated 600 W charger, each battery pack plugs into standard household Schuko outlets or public Type 2 charging stations using an official adapter cable.
Driving range for the microcar depends heavily on the chosen battery configuration, with dual-battery setups unlocking maximum operational capabilities. When utilizing two balanced 5.6 kWh modules working in parallel, the L6e variant achieves an operational range of up to 175 km, while the higher-speed L7e variant reaches up to 149 km on a full charge.
Drivers can also operate the vehicle using a single active 5.6 kWh battery pack when convenience demands it, albeit with adjusted performance limits. In single-battery mode, the L6e model covers up to 75 km, while the L7e model sees its top speed capped at 70 km/h with an estimated driving range of 70 to 75 km.
By combining battery swapping infrastructure with flexible home charging capabilities, Acciona Mobility is addressing core concerns surrounding urban EV adoption. The Silence S04 demonstrates how intelligent engineering and flexible power management can transform daily commuting across increasingly crowded metropolitan landscapes.
