Pierre Gasly and Alpine banking on powerful F1 car upgrade at Zandvoort Dutch GP

Pierre Gasly will receive a powerful and fast-tracked F1 car upgrade exclusively for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, as Alpine scrambles to reverse a difficult mid-season competitive slide against its midfield rivals.

"We need some improvements, at the moment it looks good on the simulator and in the data it looks very strong and very big, so hopefully we can do the steps that we need to be fighting against the Racing Bulls," said teammate Franco Colapinto to media including Autosport.

The French constructor chose to bring forward the development package originally slated for the Italian Grand Prix in September. Because manufacturing constraints left only one complete set of components ready, the parts will be fitted directly to Gasly's car for the weekend.

Alpine currently finds itself trailing Racing Bulls in the battle for fifth place in the constructors" championship. After a promising start to the year, the team has suffered from a lack of overall aerodynamic load, affecting both cornering speeds and energy harvesting under current regulations.

Gasly Hopes Upgrades Will Cure Lack of Pace

The comprehensive upgrade features a heavily revised floor design, a reprofiled diffuser, and updated bodywork around the sidepods and rear assembly. Engineers hope these changes will immediately inject much-needed pure pace back into the A526.

Pierre Gasly admitted that the team has been struggling across multiple corner types during the opening phase of the championship, citing a deficit in overall performance.

"I think it's obviously the start of a new regulation with a lot of potential to unlock," said Gasly during media sessions at Zandvoort ahead of the weekend's events.

"With our development plan, we've just taken slightly longer than some others. At the same time, these parts were supposed to come in Monza," he added.
