Marc Marquez dominates the Aragon Grand Prix to slash Jorge Martin championship lead

Marc Marquez secured a crucial victory at the 2026 Aragon Grand Prix, cutting Jorge Martin's championship lead significantly following an action-packed race at his favored circuit.

The reigning champion faced an early scare after a troubled start through the opening turns dropped him behind poleman Marco Bezzecchi and title contender Jorge Martin.

However, Marquez quickly recovered his pace, overtaking Martin and hunting down Bezzecchi before executing a decisive maneuver on lap six to take control of the race.

Despite a persistent challenge from KTM rider Pedro Acosta, Marquez managed his gap expertly to take the checkered flag and claim full points for his title defense.

Acosta Shines as Title Contenders Struggle

Pedro Acosta put up an impressive performance for KTM, hounding the leader for much of the race and ultimately securing a well-deserved second-place finish behind Marquez.

Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third place after losing his early advantage during the intense mid-race battles at the left-hander-dominated circuit.

Meanwhile, championship leader Jorge Martin crossed the line in fifth place, leaving Aragon with a narrowed 19-point cushion over Marquez in the standings.

The race also saw early exits for several prominent names, including Pecco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli, who crashed out of the top ten in the early stages.
