Defect And Safety Risks
The engine compartment wiring harness ground connections may fracture and cut off drive power. This failure can suddenly stall the vehicle and prevent acceleration on public roads.
Officials noted that the issue also disables essential components like headlamps and windshield washers. These secondary failures further increase the risk of a traffic crash.
Manufacturing Root Cause
Excessive adhesive from wiring insulation leaked onto terminal eyelets during production. The hardened substance prevented proper grounding and created severe stress points under engine vibrations.
Documents show that approximately 1% of the recalled production batch contains this specific defect. Ford identified eight warranty claims related to the issue by August.
Repair Plan And Schedule
Authorized dealerships will replace faulty terminal parts with redesigned components free of charge. Official notification letters will reach affected owners over the coming weeks.
The full repair remedy will become available to consumers once replacement parts arrive in March 2027. Vehicle owners can verify their VIN status directly through the NHTSA portal.
