Target Recalls 200000 Childrens Sandals Over Choking Risk
Target is recalling more than 200,000 children's sandals due to fears that plastic decorative pearls could break off and cause choking.
Affected Models and Design Flaw
The recall affects about 211,000 Cat & Jack Toddler Girls' Sequerah Sandals. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Thursday after identifying the risk.
The specific danger stems from plastic pearls attached to the footwear. The agency stated, "The sandals" decorative pearls can fall off, posing a risk of serious injury or death from a Choking Hazard.'
Sales Details and Customer Reports
The affected products feature two raffia straps with gold buckles and plastic pearls. Target sold the shoes in sizes 5T through 12T across the country and online between January 2026 and May 2026.
Target has already received 23 separate reports of the decorative pearls falling off the shoes. However, officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported to the company so far.
Guidance and Refunds for Customers
Safety officials urge consumers to stop using the recalled sandals immediately. Parents must keep the products away from young children to prevent accidental ingestion.
Customers can return the sandals to any Target store to receive a full refund. The retail giant is also allowing consumers to contact them directly online to arrange the return process.
