Startup Performance And Challenges
Leapmotor continued its strong momentum as the top-performing startup in August. It delivered 103,129 units globally which marked an 80.7% year-on-year increase. The brand remains the only startup to break the 100,000-unit monthly barrier for two consecutive months.
Huawei's HIMA experienced its first year-on-year decline with 42,101 units delivered. This represented a 5.6% decrease compared to the previous year. Aito accounted for nearly half of this total volume with 20,652 units.
Export Growth And Competitiveness
BYD generated more revenue outside China than in its domestic market during the first half of 2026. Overseas sales accounted for 53% of its total revenue. Its export volume is now catching up rapidly with Chery.
Chery still holds the top spot for total export volume among Chinese automakers. However, narrowing gaps between major players indicate fierce international competition. Overseas markets continue to drive primary growth for top manufacturers.
