Esteban Ocon is facing an increasingly uncertain future in Formula 1 as former driver Jolyon Palmer warns that the French racer is really in trouble at Haas amid mounting performance pressures.
The 2027 Formula 1 grid is rapidly taking shape following major contract announcements across the paddock, putting intense scrutiny on remaining midfield vacancies including Ocon's seat.

SubscribeSpeaking on the F1 TV Weekend Warm-Up ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Palmer pointed directly to Ocon's difficulties with the American outfit since joining the team.
"I think Esteban is really in trouble," Palmer stated. "He has had a bit of a strained relationship now with Haas. He has not performed and that is the big seat."
Haas Seat Under Fire Amid Internal Pressure
Pundit Alex Brundle also highlighted the precarious nature of the position, noting that rising talents like Leonardo Fornaroli and Rafael Camara could be eyed for the drive.
Ocon joined Haas in 2025 but found himself consistently outperformed by his rookie teammate Oliver Bearman during their first year racing alongside one another.
That performance deficit has only widened into the 2026 season, leaving Ocon trailing significantly behind Bearman in the current drivers" championship standings.
While discussions regarding his expiring contract are expected to take place, Ocon faces heavy competition and tough questions about whether he will retain his seat.
