Formula 1 has officially launched a new global marketing campaign titled Five Lights, narrated by Academy Award-nominated actor Colin Farrell, ahead of its return from the summer break with the Dutch Grand Prix. The high-profile 90-second promotional film debuted on August 16 and captures the intense pre-race countdown experienced right before the start lights illuminate.
"Five Lights captures one of the most powerful moments in Formula 1, when anticipation, excitement and pressure all come together just before the race begins," said F1 chief commercial officer Emily Prazer regarding the new project.

In addition to online visibility, the campaign will command major physical advertising spaces across the United Kingdom and the United States until September 13. High-traffic takeovers include prominent displays at Piccadilly Circus and The Outernet in London, alongside iconic American hubs like Times Square in New York, the Las Vegas Strip, and Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Global Reach and High Stakes as F1 Resumes
The timing of the campaign coincides with a thrilling championship battle as the sport resumes competition in the Netherlands. Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli currently leads the standings with 219 points, tightly pursued by rivals as teams look forward to an action-packed second half of the season.
The launch of the Five Lights campaign underscores Formula 1's ongoing strategy to expand its cultural footprint and deepen fan engagement worldwide. By blending cinematic storytelling with the star power of Colin Farrell, the sport aims to amplify the emotional resonance of race weekends.
"As we return for the second half of what has already been an incredible season, we wanted to create something that reflects the emotion of our sport and the connection our fans feel with the teams and drivers every race weekend," Prazer added.
Early digital metrics reflect strong audience reception, with the promotional video accumulating tens of thousands of views and widespread positive feedback across YouTube and official channels within days of release.
