Manchester City Prepare Potential Double Raid for Chelsea Duo
Manchester City are weighing up a double approach for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez and full-back Malo Gusto.
City Consider Midfield Options Amid Rodri Uncertainty
Manchester City are actively planning further additions in central midfield after completing the marquee signing of Elliot Anderson. The club's recruitment hierarchy remains determined to bring in another top-tier midfielder amid ongoing doubts over Rodri's long-term future at the Etihad Stadium.
Rodri has a lucrative new contract extension offer on the table from City but has yet to commit his future. Real Madrid are monitoring the situation closely and could make a formal offer if the Spain international decides to return to his homeland.
Fernandez Open to Stamford Bridge Exit
Fernandez is understood to be keen on leaving Chelsea, making him a prime target for Maresca. The Argentina international worked under Maresca last season and retains a strong professional relationship with the Italian manager.
Transfer negotiations will prove challenging due to Chelsea's steep evaluation. The London club want up to £120m for Fernandez, whereas City hope to structure a deal under the £100m mark.
Maresca Targets Gusto to Reinforce Right Back
City are also preparing a renewed effort to land French full-back Malo Gusto. Maresca highly rates the defender and prefers a natural right-back options over converted midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Gusto is reportedly open to joining City, though he is unlikely to force a move from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea hold a firm position and consider Gusto too expensive for City to easily negotiate, as they have no desire to sell.
